Figured woods are both beautiful and unusual. Curly woods have a distinct
marking perpendicular to the wood grain while Birdseye Maple is
unmistakable. These woods are an excellent choice for any humidor.

The colors you see here for the three types of Maple are
quite typical of the range of finishes available. With
minimal finishing, the wood can look almost white, as
seen in the Curly Soft Maple image below. In order to
really bring out the depth of movement in the grain I
prefer a finish that adds a little color, as seen in the
Birdseye Maple image to the left. This rich golden finish
catches the light differently from varying angles and is a
beautiful finish when polished. Unfortunately it's
impossible to adequately show that on a computer
screen.
Any of these Maples can be closer to white, or closer to
the gold shown above.
